Fine Arts Boosters

Art has jumped into community outreach this year. Second grade Valentine artwork was on display at Market at Main in January and February. Seventh graders made pottery bowls as an outreach project which were be donated to the Daily Bread “Empty Bowls” Fundraiser in March.
The music programs have many performances and activites planned in the coming months. The orchestra is working hard on new pieces for performance later this spring. Mrs. Barnes would like to enter qualified strings players in the Spring String Orchestra Camp at JMU in May. Ms. Dougherty and the MS Musical cast are working hard toward their performance on February 28. The band continues to practice new music and we had three students selected to attend the Virginia Tech Honors Band weekend during the winter. One student made 13th chair clarinet in the Bronze band, another earned 1st chair alto saxophone in the Bronze band, and the third attained 6th chair in the Silver band. Congratulations to these talented musicians!
